In Southern Spain coastal sun and eternal snow lie only one hour's drive from one another. The mountain range South of Granada is the highest one on the Spanish peninsula. From East to West it measures a length of 80 km and a width of up to 40 km. Apart from the Alps the Sierra Nevada is the highest mountain range in Western Europe; 14 of its peaks are over 3000m high - two of the highest mountains of the Iberian peninsular are the Veleta (3396m) and Mulhacen
(3482m) named after the last Moorish ruler, Mulay Hacen, who is buried on its summit.

With a mountain burial the cremated remains are either buried in the ground or scattered over the mountain.
